My Story
David Cairo is a recent graduate of Clayton State University offering and well versed in direct counseling experience with focuses on anxiety, trauma, depression, addiction, substance abuse, obsessive-compulsive disorder, phobias, life transitions, LBGT issues, and non-binary individuals. He can serve in a variety of roles, such as a peer counselor, facilitator, advocate, or mediator. In addition to holding a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science degree from Clayton State University, David served his country in the United States Air Force. In his time in the United States Air Force, David served as a chaplain assistant for over ten years, gaining valuable real-life experience in many aspects of counseling.
David has an array of competencies to assist patients and anyone in need. These competencies include crisis intervention, counseling, support, CBT, and suicide prevention. He has a demonstrated history of success with implementing crisis intervention techniques that can effectively and successfully de-escalate situations and minimize damage. Clients of David will experience treatment for the whole person, as opposed to treatment for just a narrow issue. Trust is key in the relationship between a mental health professional and their clients; and David works to get to know his clients to ensure that a stable and durable provider-client relationship is built in order to effectively treat the issues at hand.
